Starting April 28 this year, Tibet has been opened to Indian passport holders currently residing in low-risk areas of the country within China, as well as foreigners of other nationalities. Mount Kailash is a 6,638 m (21,778 ft) high peak in the Kailash Range. It traverses between the Kunlun Mountains in the north and the Himalayan Mountains in the south. The mountain is located near Lake Manasarovar and Lake Rakshastal, close to the source of some of the longest Asian rivers: the Indus, Sutlej, Brahmaputra, and Karnali. Mount Kailash holds great power because the tip of the mountain is the center of the universe's rotation. It is considered to be sacred in four religions: Hinduism, Bon, Buddhism, and Jainism. In Hindu tradition, the mountain is the abode of Shiva. As all above these, Indians have been longing to go to Kailash for a long time. They believe that even making a pilgrimage only once in their lifetime will bring blessings. Some travelers already know exactly where they want to go: canceled trips from earlier that have been rebooked or bucket list trips that seem more urgent after witnessing a global health crisis. For others, it might be more nebulous. Cabin fever might be constant but the details a bit fuzzy.
